Our great roster of in–state and out–of–state speakers include Alison Pack, MD Elizabeth Loder, MD Yasmin Khakoo, MD Kathrin LaFaver, MD James Noble, MD Jason Sico, MD Steve Herskovitz, MD, and more. The 2020 Annual Winter Meeting has a number of topical programs confirmed: Headache Management Neurological Issues/Complications in Pregnancy Workplace Issues (Burnout/ Gender Equity) Update in Neuro–Oncology Functional Movement Disorders Concussion/TBI Management Diversity in Neurology/Transgender Issues NM Ultrasound and a special COVID–19 Panel with three chairs of neurology departments in the New York City area.
We have also lowered our sponsorship levels from last year to account for the absence of in–person interactions. And just because we are virtual does not mean that we can’t set up networking opportunities throughout the event. Our virtual exhibit hall will extend beyond the meeting itself, giving sponsors the opportunity to keep engagement going. The program will be open to more physicians, as we will be advertising regionally and beyond in partnership with the American Academy of Neurology, removing travel constraints for participants. We plan to record presentations and apply for enduring status for CME, which gives physicians more options for attending beyond the actual day. As much as everyone enjoys meeting in person, virtual has some advantages. It is no surprise that NYSNS, in the face of the uncertainties of the COVID–19 pandemic, has converted this event to a virtual meeting with a virtual exhibit hall. Last year our virtual conference attracted over 200 plus participants. Of course, the event would not be complete without our very popular Neurostakes Competition, which pits the cream of the various neurology residency programs against each other in team play answering neurological case “stumpers.” Our attendees enjoy cheering on their favorites, especially when they graduated from the same program! Presentations will include updates on COVID long–term sequelae health disparities in stroke, new dementia drugs, evidence–based integrative neurology health care disparities and neuromyelitis optica and more. This year, we are going to be back in person at the Stewart Hotel in Manhattan, 371 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY 10001.
